Play fair, build free.

These terms govern your use of Blockwire — the game and the official accounts, servers, and market run by Brain Dump Inneractive. They take away none of the freedom the source code gives you under the GNU AGPLv3; they set the ground rules for playing fair and respecting what other players make.

Play, stream, and share

Blockwire is free, and you're welcome to record, stream, and publish videos of it anywhere — supported by ads or donations, with no permission needed. Putting Blockwire content behind a paywall or a members-only tier is monetizing it, and that needs written permission first — email us for the OK. What you build, paint, and design is yours to keep and show off.

Don't sell maps, worlds, or recipes

You may not sell maps, worlds, or recipes for real money — anywhere, on any server, official or not, even ones you made yourself. Not at all. (Products still trade in-game for in-game currency; that is the game's economy, not a real-money sale, and recipes stay private by design.)

Don't cheat, don't cause harm

You can run and modify the game, and even build your own client from the code — that's fine. What isn't fine is connecting to our servers with a client that gives a player an unfair advantage: seeing through walls, auto-aim once PvP exists, faking actions, or duplicating items. That is ban-worthy. Bans are based only on the unfair behavior observed, never on merely running a custom client. The same goes for using the game or its code to harm others — attacking players or infrastructure, harassment, or stealing accounts or data.

Why the server code is open

Because Blockwire uses the AGPLv3, anyone running a modified public server must share that server's full source with the players who connect to it. This is deliberate: it stops a server owner from secretly altering the world or server code to hand themselves an unfair advantage, or to quietly steal the recipes players make on their server. If a server is public, its code is inspectable — so it can't cheat its own players in the dark.

We may update these terms as the game grows. Nothing here removes any right the AGPLv3 grants you over the source code.
